Pre-development Meetings

If your project involves an existing structure or building, you may be required to elevate your building to the current required flood elevation, this requirement could add significant costs to your project.  Please discuss with the City of Galveston Flood Plain Administrator, FEMA or a registered professional engineer to find out what may be required for your project to meet current flood insurance program requirements.  Historic Structures are exempt from this requirement.

Pre-Development meetings can be scheduled through our office. They are held every other Friday of each month at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11 a.m.

The Planning and Community Development Department will coordinate with other city departments that are applicable to the project / development. Please contact the office by calling 409-797-3660 or emailing Planningcounter@cityofgalveston.org to schedule a meeting.

Wanting to plan ahead for your project? The Building Division has published the following averages for permit plan reviews from October 1, 2010 - July 1, 2011.
