Next Citizens Police Academy Class Set To Begin June 29th

The Galveston Police Department’s next Citizens Police Academy class will begin this month on June 29th and they are still accepting applications! The Citizens Police Academy offers insight into Officer Recruitment and Training, Criminal Investigation, S.W.A.T., Crime Scene Investigation, the K-9 Unit, Firearms Training, Vice and Narcotics, and more. The weekly classes provide a unique opportunity to connect with your police department. Each class will open a new window into GPD operations - what they do and why they do it. We are pleased to announce that the Galveston Police Department’s 51st Citizens Police Academy hosted by Pastor Johnson and Ave L Baptist Church. The course will be held at The Wilbrydge 2702 Ave L.  Classes will begin on Thursday, June 29, 2017, and meet each Thursday evening through September 14, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. There is no charge for the class or materials.
The Citizens Police Academy offers insight into Officer Recruitment and Training, Criminal Investigation, S.W.A.T., Crime Scene Investigation, the K-9 Unit, Firearms Training, Vice and Narcotics and much, much more. More importantly, it offers a unique opportunity to connect with your police department.

Classes open a window into Galveston Police Department operations--what they do and why they do it.  This is also a chance to become more involved in your community, network with others across the island, and ultimately come together in partnership with your police department officers to improve the security and well-being of neighborhoods and commercial areas alike.


Applicants should be 18 years of age or older and either live or work in the City of Galveston. Due to the sensitive subject matter applicants will be subjected to a background check. Participants must attend at least 9 classes to successfully complete the course.
