Construction to resume on Crockett Park

Galveston, TX – Dec. 3, 2018 – Construction is slated to begin this week on the Crockett Park baseball fields – an exciting development for a park that will be enjoyed by the community for many generations to come.

The City of Galveston recently hired Ardent Construction, LLC to complete the work on the baseball fields and prepare the park for opening. Work is expected to begin as early as Wednesday, Dec. 5. Crockett Park is centrally located on Avenue S between 53rd and 57th streets.

“The Crockett Park baseball fields and complex will be an asset to this island, especially Galveston children,” City Manager Brian Maxwell said. “Once it’s completed it will be a truly beautiful addition to our many parks and community spaces.”

The park has three baseball fields, basketball and volleyball courts, concession stands, a walking trail, a playground, batting cages and beautiful landscaping. The fields will be home for at least one of island’s Little League teams and likely other traveling teams.

The City met with the builders Monday and construction crews will begin work this week. Part of that includes completing the concessions and restrooms. Ardent Construction, LLC has worked with the City of Galveston before. The firm built the Lasker Park Community Pool on 43rd Street, which was completed in 2017.
