Press release - Galveston Police Department

On Tuesday, February 19th, at approximately 10:23 am the Galveston Police Department received a 911 call reporting several shots fired in the 2700 block of Ave K.  Upon arrival officers found a male, later identified as 34-year-old Raymond Anderson, had been shot and was lying unresponsive in the back yard of a residence.  Galveston EMS also responded to the scene; however, it was evident that Anderson had already succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Detectives with the Galveston Police Department’s Major Crimes division as well as investigators with the Crime Scene Unit arrived and began interviewing possible witnesses and processing the scene for any forensic evidence.  Through this process, detectives have developed a person of interest but are still pursuing leads.  At this time, no arrests have been made; however, this does not appear to be a random event, and the Galveston Police Department does not believe the general public is at further risk.  If anyone has any information concerning the shooting they are encouraged to contact detectives at 409-765-3770.
