GALVESTON, TX (March 8, 2019) – The 7th Annual Causeway FunD Run returns to Galveston Island on Saturday, March 9.
Participants will race along the Causeway in support of the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) School of Health Professions. Proceeds generated from entry fees and sponsorships are used to fund scholarships awarded to current students pursuing their degree at the UTMB School of Health Professions.
The first race kicks off in the Galveston County Daily News parking lot on Teichman Road at 7:45 a.m. with the Kids 1K followed by the 5K Wheelchair Race and the 5K FunD Run. Participants will continue to Broadway and the Teichman access ramp heading north in the outside southbound lane of IH-45. They will proceed to the marked “turn around” point approximately midway on the Causeway to return to the finish line at the Galveston County Daily News parking lot.
The outside southbound lane of IH-45 and the Teichman Road exit will be closed from approximately 6:45 a.m. until 11 a.m. Inbound traffic needing to access Teichman Road and Blume Drive should take the 71st Street exit and turn back west on the outbound feeder. Galveston Police Officers will provide traffic control for the entirety of the run.
