Harborside is looking good! A City of Galveston project along Harborside Drive includes initiatives to beautify our entrance to the cruise terminals and downtown, including with palm trees along the medians and new signage on the walkway. As part of this project, the City has worked with the port to re-route the port’s main entrance so that it’s safer for pedestrians to cross. This project is funded by the Industrial Development Corporation, or sales tax. Harborside Drive is a primary entrance for hundreds of thousands of cruise passengers traveling out of Galveston each year and for many island UTMB employees. And we all enjoy an attractive downtown!
