GALVESTON, TX (March 28, 2019) –The City of Galveston is hosting a public meeting to inform residents and receive feedback about potential changes to Island Transit services. The meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 11 in Council Chambers, 823 Rosenberg.
The City of Galveston is considering significant changes to services provided by Island Transit. Those revisions include potential elimination of weekend services and a potential fare increase for the fixed-route buses and Demand Response (Dial-A-Ride) and RIDES programs.
As a result, the proposed changes are being considered:
Eliminating weekend services for fixed route and the Demand Response ADA paratransit programs (Dial-A-Ride) and RIDES
Increasing Fixed-Route Fare from $1 to $2
Increasing Demand Response (Dial-A-Ride) Fare from $2 to $4

Representatives from Island Transit will be available at the public meeting to answer questions and concerns the public may have regarding the proposed service changes.
