  1. Summer Pop Band Concerts - 91st Anniversary!

    Join the Galveston Beach Band every Tuesday evening this summer beginning June 4th at 7:30 PM for a weekly outdoor summer pop band concert. This year is the 91st Anniversary of the Summer Pop Band Concerts. Every concert is FREE & offers great musical entertainment for the entire family! Mr. Frank Incaprera Jr. leads the Galveston Beach Band, which is just as much a part of Galveston summers as snow cones, flip flops, & trips to the beach. The concerts entertain & delight audiences of all ages with a diverse mix of much loved show tunes, big band numbers, & jazz. A special "Children's Parade" happens at every concert. Join your neighbors, friends, & family by attending band performances at the historic Eugenia & George Sealy Pavilion at Mary Moody Northern Plaza located at 24th Street and Sealy, across from Rosenberg Library. Family-friendly entertainment attracts a casual crowd of locals & tourists to the downtown site. Concerts begin at 7:30 PM every Tuesday through August 13th.

PD Training Calendar

  1. 40 Hr Crisis Intervention Training 1850

    July 15, 2019, 8:00 AM - July 19, 2019, 4:00 PM @ Police Building

    This course provides the key concepts, safety techniques and communication skills for peace officers to use when they respond to individuals in a serious mental health crisis. It covers the legal aspects of mental health commitments, liability issues, mental disorders, and mental disabilities. In addition, it deals with a variety of developmental disabilities including epilepsy, cerebral palsy and hearing impairments. The former 16-hour Crisis Intervention Training ceased to exist on April 1, 2018. For officers licensed after April 1, 2018, who have not had this new Crisis Intervention Training as part of their BPOC, this is a required course and must be taken within two years of license issuance. For officers who were licensed before April 1, 2018, this is a required course to be completed no later than the second anniversary of the date the officer is licensed or the date an officer applies for an intermediate proficiency certificate, whichever date is earlier.

  2. Canine Encounters #4065

    In January of 2016, the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) developed a lesson guideline for Texas Training Coordinators and Instructors to use toward providing instructor-led Canine Encounters #4065 (TCOLE) training. Course topics include: Texas State Animal Laws Recognizing and Understanding Canine Behavior Non-lethal tools/methods/resources to avoid and defend against canine attack Conflict Avoidance, De-escalation, and Use of Force Continuum Principles Other Techniques and Surviving an Attack Identification of other common animal encounters
