(40 hours TCOLE credit) Instructors: GCSO ID Division Instructors Facility: GCSO Jail, Large Training Room About: This course shall present instruction in search techniques and processing of evidence from the crime scene to the court room. Latent fingerprints, crime scene photography, chart preparation and legal matters are among the topics covered. The goal shall be to improve the competency of the investigator in searching for, recovering and processing physical evidence at the crime scene. This course satisfies requirements for TCOLE course 2106 - Crime Scene Search

Lucio Martinez Facility: Joe Max Taylor Building Large Training Room Class size: 5 Min/30 Max About: This class is designed to certify the New Taser CEW User with the Taser X26P CEW utilizing current training materials (Version 20 provided by Taser Inc. *For GCSO Employees-This course requires a Taser CEW Exposure and prior written authorization from your GCSO Division Commander. Documentation must be submitted to the Training Division prior to the training date. *For all other Non GCSO Agencies-If your agency requires exposure you must bring two simulation cartridges and one live cartridge for this course (they may be all live cartridges if you are unable to obtain simulation cartridges). If your agency does not require exposure you must bring two cartridges whether live or simulation.

    Instructors: Sonia Khurana and Ricky Harris Facility: GCSO Joe Max Taylor Large Training Room (4 hours TCOLE credit) About: Law enforcement officers who enroll in this TCOLE mandated course will learn about using appropriate techniques to interact and communicate with drivers who are deaf or hard of hearing. They will receive practical training on how to effectively communicate by themselves but also learn when an interpreter may be required. As part of the course, officers will learn how to identify someone who is deaf or hard of hearing. They also will learn regulations for law enforcement agencies regarding deaf and hard of hearing individuals under the American with Disability Act.

  3. Summer Pop Band Concerts - 90th Anniversary!

    Join the Galveston Beach Band every Tuesday evening this summer beginning June 6th at 7:30 PM for a weekly outdoor summer pop band concert. This year is the 90th Anniversary of the Summer Pop Band Concerts. Every concert is FREE & offers great musical entertainment for the entire family! Mr. Frank Incaprera Jr. leads the Galveston Beach Band, which is just as much a part of Galveston summers as snow cones, flip flops, & trips to the beach. The concerts entertain & delight audiences of all ages with a diverse mix of much loved show tunes, big band numbers, & jazz. A special "Children's Parade" happens at every concert. Join your neighbors, friends, & family by attending band performances at the historic Eugenia & George Sealy Pavilion at Mary Moody Northern Plaza located at 24th Street and Sealy, across from Rosenberg Library. Family-friendly entertainment attracts a casual crowd of locals & tourists to the downtown site. Concerts begin at 7:30 PM every Tuesday through August 15th.
