Fair Housing

Purpose

The Grants and Housing Department assists residents of the City of Galveston who believe that they have experienced discrimination in the rental of an apartment or the purchase of a home based on:

  • Disability
  • Family status
  • National origin
  • Race or color
  • Religion
  • Sex

Complaints

Housing complaints must be filed within 100 days of the alleged discriminatory act. For more information, contact the Grants and Housing Department at (409) 797-3820.

All complaints are forwarded for review and disposition to the Houston office of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
