ATTENTION: The last day for this service is Friday, Sept. 28, 2018. The main reasons for discontinuing the service were the small ridership and the City’s loss of rural grant funding. The bus line averaged fewer than 10 riders a day.

Island Express will continue running its three round-trips on weekdays until Sept. 28.

The Island Express takes passengers from Galveston to Houston on weekdays for just $9.

Helpful information:

  • At this time, separate payment must be made each time a bus is boarded.
  • METRO buses take cash or any METRO fare medium.
  • Total one-way fare between Galveston and Houston is $9.
  • All passengers pay a $4.50 fare one way on Island Transit buses and also on METRO Route 246.
