City accepting public comments for April 3 City Council meeting

The City of Galveston is accepting public comments in advance of the special-called Galveston City Council meeting scheduled on Friday, April 3, 2020. Public attendance will be restricted due to concerns about Coronavirus, but participation is still encouraged.

The City of Galveston has created a form for residents to use to address their comments to City Council. The form is available at We will accept public comments until 12 p.m. on Friday, April 3rd before the public council meeting.

The meeting will be held by video conference on Friday, April 3 at 2 p.m. The City Council meeting will be broadcast on Channel 16, as well as on the City of Galveston’s Facebook account @cityofgalveston.

A City of Galveston staff member will read the comments aloud during the meeting. Any remarks should be kept to 500 characters.

Public comments that do not pertain to items on the City Council agenda will be read aloud to City Council, but City Council cannot respond to those comments or questions during the meeting, according to City Council rules and procedures.

Comments will also be accepted over the phone. People may call the City Secretary’s Office at 409-797-3510. We ask that these comments are called in before 10 a.m. on Friday, April 3 to provide time to transcribe the comments.

While the City of Galveston is taking public health precautions to limit the number of people in the Council Chamber, we do not want to limit public engagement in the meeting or city business.
