Last week, the Galveston City Council moved forward on a plan to build a pool deck at the Lasker Park Community Pool.
Thanks to the city’s Industrial Development Corporation, which determines the use of certain sales tax revenues, the pool secured funding to build a more than 2,800 square-foot pool deck. The deck will be available to rent and is intended to generate additional revenue for the community pool. Construction is expected to begin later this year and the estimated cost is $46,600.
We assume someday we’ll be able to host parties again (BYE, Covid!) and when the time comes the Lasker Park Community Pool will be an affordable option for Galveston residents looking to host birthday parties or other outdoor events.
