CITY OF GALVESTON
2021 CONSOLIDATED CDBG & HOME RECOMMENDED PROGRAMS
The U.S. Dept. of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) administers the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Programs and has released the 2021 CDBG and HOME Funding Allocations. The City will receive CDBG funding of $1,183,810 and HOME funding of $246,705. CDBG and HOME Program Income has been estimated at a total of $50,000 (CDBG $20,000 and HOME $30,000). City Council reviewed these projects on April 22, 2021 with a consensus to complete the consolidated planning process. The projects will be submitted to Council for approval on May 27, 2021. All CDBG Projects will provide a benefit to the low-moderate income (LMI) population. All HOME Projects will provide an affordable housing benefit to LMI households. The list of the 2021 CDBG and HOME Proposed Objectives and Projects is located on the City’s Grants and Housing Dept. website at https://www.galvestontx.gov/1052/5-year-Consolidated-Plan.
A PUBLIC HEARING to receive citizen comments on the City’s 2021 CDBG and HOME Proposed Programs will be held during the:
City Council Meeting
Thursday, May 27, 2021, 5:00 p.m.
The meeting will be conducted in-person with public access by Zoom Virtual Meeting in order to advance the public health goal of "social distancing" to slow the spread of the Coronavirus/COVID-19. The agenda for the meeting will be posted on the City website https://www.galvestontx.gov/agendacenter 72 hours before the meeting. The agenda will outline the process for submitting comments to Council for the Public Hearing.
The City encourages citizen participation in the Consolidated Planning Process and is initiating a Citizen Comment Period for the 2021 CDBG & HOME Program Proposed Objectives and Projects. Comments for the Public Hearing may be submitted to the Grants & Housing Dept. by email to email@example.com by 5:00 p.m., May 26, 2021. Upon completion of the citizen participation process, approval by City Council, and all HUD requirements, the City’s 2021 Action Plan (application) will be submitted to HUD.
