New downtown parking rate in effect

Rate changes to downtown parking are going into effect today. City Council voted last month to increase the parking fee to $2.25 an hour and implement paid parking on Sundays to fund cleaning initiatives downtown. The vendor responsible for our downtown paid parking collection has just completed the price change implemented by Council on March 24. While the new rates go into effect today, the Sunday paid-parking implementation will remain unchanged until signage downtown is modified to reflect the change. Residents and visitors are not required to pay for parking this Sunday, April 17.

The City is updating signs downtown now to reflect the changes. Customers will still use the Pay By Phone parking app to pay for parking at an hourly rate of $2.25 and a one-hour minimum. Paid parking is in effect daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Parking rate changes do not affect other paid parking areas, such as the Seawall.
