Galveston, TX – May 17, 2019 – The City of Galveston is changing its process for handling electrical and HVAC permits beginning in June as part of our mission in creating improvements and efficiencies in the permitting process.
Effective June 3, the city’s Building Division will require a brief meeting between city staff and HVAC and electrical contractors in order to acquire a permit. This will ensure verification of the contractor’s credentials and high quality work.
The City already requires a review for plumbing permits. As with plumbing, the goal is to have the HVAC and electrical review within four hours and no more than eight hours of the request.
“Safe and high quality electrical and HVAC work is a top priority at the City of Galveston,” Assistant Director of Development Services Todd Sukup said. “This change in our permitting process ensures a second verification for Galveston homeowners.”
The City of Galveston asks that contractors ensure their credentials are current and provide a brief description of the proposed work. Permit applications may be obtained at the Permit Desk on the fourth floor of City Hall at 823 Rosenberg. The permit application is also available online at www.galvestontx.gov.
