City to host stakeholder meeting on 25th Street reconstruction project

Galveston, TX – August 8, 2019 – The City of Galveston will host a stakeholder meeting on Thursday, August 15th at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall to educate residents, businesses and property owners about the 25th Street reconstruction project.

The project, expected to begin in September 2019, will include the repaving of 25th Street between Broadway and Seawall, water and sewer improvements, one traffic signal replacement, and a minor drainage improvement.

“The 25th Street reconstruction project will benefit one of the most important corridors used by residents and tourists traveling from our historic downtown to Seawall Blvd.,” City Manager Brian Maxwell said.

The meeting is an opportunity for residents to learn more about the project and offer comments before the reconstruction begins.

City staff, as well as the engineer and contractor for the project, will be there to answer questions about the construction and engineering of the project, drainage along the street, and how residents and businesses will be affected by the road closure.
