Galveston, TX – September 12, 2019 – A march planned for Sunday afternoon will necessitate street closures in downtown Galveston between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Organizers have planned a march for Sunday, September 15 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in response to an August 3rd arrest in Galveston.
For planning purposes, the City of Galveston wants its residents and visitors to be aware of street closures affecting traffic downtown.
Between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m., 23rd Street and 24th Street will be closed from Broadway Avenue to Church Street. Traffic will not be able to access either road during this time. Additionally, Church Street will be closed between 23rd and 24th streets from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Bus parking will be situated on Sealy Street between 22nd and 25th streets. Please note this area could be difficult to access for thru traffic.
Parking will not be allowed on closed streets. The City’s traffic department will place No Parking signs along these routes on Sunday.
For media who plan to attend the event, we ask that you park in the media staging area. This is located in the north parking lot of the Open Gates Conference Center, at the corner of Sealy Avenue and 24th Street.
