GPD identifies officer involved in Oct. 12 shooting

October 16, 2019 – Galveston, TX – On the evening of October 12th, 2019, a Galveston Police Officer was involved in a shooting while conducting a traffic stop near 9 Mile Road and Stewart. The case is being investigated by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office. The officer remains on administrative leave, per department policy.

The Galveston Police Department has identified the involved officer as Officer William Hardman. Officer Hardman has been with the Galveston Police Department since April of 2017 and is 23-years-old. Officer Hardman has not been involved in a police shooting before this incident nor has he received any discipline since working for the Galveston Police Department.
