Galveston, TX – Oct. 17, 2019 – A storm-related roof collapse at a Houston Post Office processing center in mid-September caused delays and other possible problems with mail, including utility bills from the City of Galveston.
The City of Galveston is committed to helping our customers who may have been affected by the mail delay.
It is possible that the Utility Billing Department has not received payments that were mailed by customers. If this is the case, this will show as a missed payment on the next billing cycle, which will start going out as early as the week of October 21st.
If a customer has mailed a payment and it is not reflected on their bill, we ask that customers please contact the Utility Billing Department by calling 409-797-3550. Our customer service team will help resolve the issue.
The City of Galveston announced it would waive late fees and interest accrued from delayed bills last month. We will continue to waive late fees and interest for customers whose payments were mailed but have not been received by the department. The Utility Billing Department is also prepared to work with customers who may now owe two months of payments on a payment plan.
