City Marshal’s Office, police department to participate in statewide warrant round-up

Great Texas Warrant Round up

The City of Galveston, along with law enforcement agencies and courts from more than 250 jurisdictions across Texas, are combining efforts to host the 2020 Great Texas Warrant Round-Up beginning Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

This event is designed to bring individuals with arrest warrants into compliance with court orders.  Municipal Court officials are encouraging defendants to take advantage of the options available to settle outstanding warrants immediately before the round up begins.

Individuals who voluntarily appear at the Galveston Municipal Court to resolve their case(s) will not be arrested.  Additionally, if a judgment is rendered against an individual who is unable to pay the judgment, the individual may request a judge assess their ability to pay and offer alternative means to satisfy the judgment.

Individuals with warrants are encouraged to contact the court to resolve their cases voluntarily before they are arrested. Once the arrest period begins on March 3, 2020, officers will aggressively seek out wanted individuals. Arrests can take place at any location, including the defendant’s home, school, or workplace.

For more information about warrants and options, defendants should contact the court at 409-765-3740.

Options are available for individuals who are not able to pay in full.  Please contact the court for more information or visit their office at 601 54th Street, Suite 300, Galveston, TX 77551 and take the necessary action to resolve any outstanding warrant(s) to avoid being arrested during the warrant round-up.
