  1. 46th Annual Dickens on the Strand

    December 6, 2019 - December 8, 2019 @ Historic Downtown Galveston

    With a nod to the ghost of Dickens past and an eye towards the future, Galveston’s world famous Victorian holiday festival returns to the downtown area for the 46th year on December 6th through 8th! The annual holiday street festival, based on 19th-century Victorian London, features parades, non-stop entertainment on six stages, strolling carolers, roving musicians, bagpipers, jugglers and a host of other entertainers. Costumed vendors peddle their wares from street stalls and rolling carts laden with holiday food and drink, Victorian-inspired crafts, clothing, jewelry, holiday decorations and gift items. The Dickens on the Strand event area includes Strand and Mechanic (between 25th and 20th Streets) and side streets from Harborside to Mechanic (not including 25th or 20th Street).

  2. Our Lady of Guadalupe Procession

    December 7, 2019, 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM @ Broadway (46th Street to 34th Street)

    The Holy Family Parish will be hosting their annual Our Lady of Guadalupe Procession, which is a celebratory parade that travels eastbound along Broadway (using the far right-hand lane only) on Saturday, December 7, 2019. The procession will begin at 8:30 AM on 46th and Broadway and head east to 34th and Broadway where it will end at Holy Family Parish (1010 35th Street). This event is family-friendly and all are welcome to attend! Please feel free to line up along the far right hand lane on Broadway (going eastbound) between 46th and 34th Streets.

  3. City of Galveston / GMPA Christmas Parade

    December 14, 2019, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ Historic Downtown Galveston

    'Tis the Season for the annual City of Galveston Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Galveston Municipal Police Association! Come join us on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 6:00 PM to celebrate the Holiday spirit! The parade will begin at 6:00 PM on 25th Street at Santa Fe Place and proceed south to Postoffice, east to 19th Street, north to Strand, and west to 25th Street. The parade will line-up on Santa Fe Place between 25th Street and 28th Street beginning at 4:30 PM. The Downtown Event Area is not anticipated to be closed until approximately 5:30 PM with traffic being detoured to nearby surrounding streets. Immediately following the parade, the Downtown are will be completely reopen to traffic.

  4. Santa Hustle Half Marathon & 5K

    December 15, 2019, 7:00 AM - 10:30 AM @ Moody Gardens; Seawall; 83rd Street

    Santa Claus is comin’ on Sunday, December 15th, 2019! Thousands of Santas are expected to race along the streets and Seawall. They will jingle all the way through the course with candy and cookies, festive music, creative Christmas images, and so much more. The Half Marathon will begin at 7:00 AM and the 5K at 7:30 AM. Temporary, but minor delays may occur around 81st and 83rd Streets, as well as Seawall Blvd (between 91st and 25th) moving eastbound. All lanes and closures are expected to be reopened immediately following the event, which should end no later than 10:30 AM. Please refer to the route maps below for more detail.
